Job Title: External Auditor

The Description
The external auditor shall examine the financial statements of the company to ensure the financial reporting process is transparent. He/she shall review all financial reporting requirements of the organisation. The external auditor shall approach all the engagements with a very objective mind. The candidate must display effective and efficient leadership skills with a good understanding of accounting and system control.

Responsibilities:

• Prepares and presents reports regarding Internal Control Reviews in a timely and accurate manner; ensures the Internal Control Department meets regulatory requirements and best practices at all times.
• Coordinates reconciliation and/or liquidation of General Ledger items within established transit times.
• Conducts timely periodic reviews in line with annual Internal Control Plan. S/he identifies delays in review and ensures effectiveness of such reviews while recommending corrective actions are taken as needed.
• Protects the integrity of the Company by ensuring that it operates in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements, abides by the Company’s Code of Conduct, and promotes compliance in the manner in which business is conducted.
• Assists in the preparation of the a Company Risk assessment and annual Internal Control Review Plan.
• Identifies and reports potential risk exposures within company operations and recommends mitigating controls to prevent or minimize such potential exposures.
• Administering and monitoring of access to branch systems and applications to detect and/or prevent, and report unauthorised access.
• Other duties may be assigned similar to the above consistent with the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the position.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• FIRS compliant.
• Able to provide evidence of continuous training with respect to audit.
• At least 10 years in practice.
• ICAN certificate is an advantage.
• Minimum of Degree and an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA),
• Minimum of 5 years experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
